Who is the intrapreneur?
This concept, which has gained more importance in recent years, is used to refer to teams of solution-oriented people who are selected among company employees, who create innovative solutions to the given problem using company resources, who design systems, who work in the same or different departments, who love to produce, who can bring different perspectives to the issues.
Companies make significant investments in intrapreneurship programs to enable their employees to create innovative solutions using their own potential. Let's take a look at some of the successful products that have come out of these programs.
Gmail:
Google allowed its employees 20% of their working time to develop personal projects, which led to the creation of Gmail. Paul Buchheit used this personal time to create Gmail. Gmail has been active since 2004 and continues to be one of the most successful products today. Gmail quickly overtook its competitors Hotmail and Yahoo to become the first free mail service. Today it has 1.5 billion global users.
Vimeo:
Vimeo, which started as an online video platform, grows 54% in sales in one year after marketing director Anjali Sud suggests a new business model. Anjali, who made this suggestion, continues her career as CEO. Vimeo, which was making a loss as a video sharing platform, changed its goals from the entertainment sector to the entrepreneurship sector thanks to Anjali while looking for new solutions. It has turned into a tool that allows us to edit and shoot in a practical way.
Playstation:
Ken Kutaragi is the most important figure in the creation of the Sony Playstation. While working as an engineer at Sony in the 1980s, Ken observed his child playing Nintendo and realized the potential in video games. At first Sony did not warm to the idea.
